The Best Movies Coming to Showtime in October 2019, Including 5 Scary Flicks to Watch on Halloween

Fall is here, and so are lots of new movies and television shows on Showtime. The premium cable channel has more spooky films to its lineup for October to prepare you for Halloween, along with recent episodes of The Affair and Couples Therapy, a fresh documentary about Judy Garland, and a neo-noir that’s thought of one in all the best films ever created.

Halloween is just around the corner, and Showtime is moving into the spirit of the season by adding some must-see horror movies to its streaming lineup, as well as these creepy favorites. All are streaming from October 1.

The Fog: Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis stars in the 1980 horror film from John Carpenter about a couple of coastal cities haunted by the ghosts of sailors killed in a shipwreck.

Jacob’s ladder: Tim Robbins stars as a Vietnam vet full of heavy visions and nightmares during this psychological horror film directed by Adrian Lyne.

Open Water: A few go on a scuba-diving vacation and are stranded within the ocean open after they’re accidentally left behind by the boat’s crew. Soon, hungry sharks are circling in this 2004 film, which is predicated on a true incident.

The House with a clock on Its Walls: If you’re trying to find a fun, family-friendly film with a splash of scariness, see this 2018 adaptation of John Bellairs’ beloved novel from horror vet Eli writer, that tells the story of an orphan who moves into his uncle’s mysterious mansion and finds himself tangling with witches and warlocks.
